Leftover Magic: Turning Bread into Family Treats

Good bread deserves a second life — especially when it comes from our ovens.
If you find yourself with a few leftover slices at the weekend, don’t let them go to waste.
Here’s one of our favourite ways to turn yesterday’s loaf into a moment of pure joy:
French Toast.

French Toast — A Classic Made Even Better

You’ll need:

  • Slices of day-old bread (our Pain Blanc and Campagne work beautifully but if you have Shokupan or Brioche Feuilletée relishes, that’s para-para-paradise ohohohohooo)

  • 2 eggs

  • 150ml milk (or a splash of cream for extra richness)

  • A little sugar (Muscovado or any brown)

  • A pinch of cinnamon (optional)

  • Butter for frying

How to:

  1. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, and cinnamon together.

  2. Dip the bread slices into the mixture, letting them soak for a few seconds.

  3. Heat a knob of butter in a frying pan over medium heat.

  4. Fry the soaked bread until golden and slightly crispy on both sides.

  5. Serve warm with berries, a drizzle of honey, a dusting of icing sugar — or all three! (Ask kindly 😉and we will post a homemade Hazelnut Spread recipe just here!)

Why we love it

  • It’s simple enough for a Sunday morning with the kids.

  • It’s indulgent enough for a lazy brunch with friends.

  • And it’s a lovely way to honour the craft and care that goes into every loaf.

So, next time you pick up a Pierre Alix loaf, remember: a few slices set aside could be tomorrow’s sweetest moment.
